Children and Youth Ministries

We believe that Christian education is a journey that lasts our entire life equipping us to be disciples as we live for Christ in the world.  We provide educational opportunities for all ages that are vital and inspirational.

Children's Ministry

childrenOur SPLASH program is designed for parents and their newborns through three years of age.  We give to each of our families information on faith formation, including a compact disc containing music.  There is a monthly newsletter for parents to assist them in providing a home that nurtures their children in faith.

For our older children there is an excellent program of church school classes taught by trained adults.

For those who wish to participate, there are opportunities for children to serve by being a child liturgist, reading in worship, and as an acolyte, lighting the candles in the sanctuary prior to worship.

Youth Ministry

youthOur youth participate in the Presbyterian Youth Connection that enables them to connect to other members here at First Presbyterian, and through that connects them to other Presbyterian youth in our community and state.

The activities of the group can be divided into four primary areas:

  1. Study - Sunday mornings and other times we learn about our faith.
  2. Worship - We encourage our youth to participate in worship.  They also have the opportunity to serve as a Youth Liturgist or on an ushering Team
  3. Community Outreach - Service to others is a cornerstone of our faith.  We serve by participating at the Topeka Rescue Mission, at other community agencies, a Week of Local Mission each Spring, a Christmas Mission Lock-in, participating in the Crop Walk, The Souper Bowl of Caring, and by helping members of our own church family who are in need.
  4. Fellowship - We always manage to have fun together!

GO-AND-SERVE!
