Joining the Fellowship and Mission of
First Presbyterian Church of Topeka
We are a Covenant People
We believe we are claimed in love by the Living God, called to be disciples by the Holy Spirit, and committed to making an effective witness in the name of Jesus Christ.
We are a Servant People
Grounded in the biblical narrative and nourished by the Reformed tradition, we are challenged by the urgent and continually unfolding needs of our changing world.
We are a Mission People
Nurtured by the community of faith and empowered through prayer and praise, confession and thanksgiving, we are sent forth to heal the sick, to feed the hungry, to teach the Word of God, and to porclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We are a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) who fellowship together, children, youth and adults, alike, making profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. One becomes an active member of the church through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and acceptance of his Lordship in all of life. Baptism and public profession of faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior are visible signs of entrance into the active membership of the church. All who believe are invited to join with us in the work of Christ's kingdom. Prospective members are invited and encouraged to speak with a pastor with any questions pertaining to joining First Presbyterian Church of Topeka.

You may join by:
Profession of Faith
In doing so, you acknowledge your sin and your need for Savior. You confess your belief in Jesus as God's son and welcome him into your life. You further promise to allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in living the Christian life. Unless baptized in infancy, baptism will follow your public profession of faith.
Transfer of Letter
Letters of transfer are accepted from all Christian churches who will grant them to their members. Baptism from another denomination by sprinkling, pouring or immersion is recognized as valid.
Reaffirmation of Faith
When a letter of transfer cannot be obtained, or when membership in another church has lapsed, you can begin anew with the reaffirmation of faith. You promise again to live by the commitment made at your baptism or public profession of faith. You need not be baptized again.
Together, as a household of faith, we invite you to grow with us in our faithfulness to God, Sharing God's Love from the Heart of Topeka.
